abc of Faith

When we read the scriptures on how our Lord and His early disciples healed so many people that came to them, we wonder why the same does not work for many of us today. Before He departed from us, our Lord Jesus said to His disciples that all authority has been given to Him in heaven and on earth (Matt 28:11). Further to this, in Matthew 7:7&8, Jesus said “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”

From the scriptures, we find that in order to activate or receive this gift of healing, forgiveness and restoration, we need to have faith. Many times in the scriptures, we read that Jesus often say “Your faith has made you well…” or “Your faith has saved you…”. So what is faith?

Hebrews 11:1 says it clearly: “Now faith is being SURE of what we HOPE for and CERTAIN of what we do not SEE.”

In short the abc of Faith is to first Accept and receive the truth and promises of God. Secondly, we need to Believe that we have already received the healing and forgiveness. Thirdly, we need to Confess out what we believed to have received. Yes, this exercise takes faith for we know that without faith, it is impossible to please Him (Heb 11:6).

This is what I would describe as inner faith or faith that comes from us. There is also another kind of faith. Faith that comes from God through His rhema word. It is His faith that comes together with His Rhema Word that empowers and embolden us to speak and do His work on His behalf. This is much like after the Holy Spirit came upon the apostle Peter on Pentecost day, he is able to speak boldly and confidently (like a learned speaker) what the Lord has placed in his heart.

We need not only to increase our faith through the reading and hearing of scriptures (Rom 10:17), but also to pray for His rhema word to be release upon us, in order for us to carry out His work here.

Therefore before we end, let us now ACCEPT, BELIEVE and CONFESS the promises that God has released upon our lives. (Next Page)
